Phoenix from the Ashes
After Viennese traditional manufacturer AKG closed its doors in Austria in 2017, a team of former AKG engineers promptly founded Austrian Audio and the OC 818 became their first proprietary product, following in the footsteps of the AKG classic. The Austrian Audio OC 18 is a slightly scaled-down and more affordable version of the flagship OC 818, without compromising on sound quality. In the studio set, it includes a standard microphone clamp as well as a high-quality shock mount for handling noise, a windshield, and comes delivered in a sturdy aluminum transport case.
A Return to the Essentials
Austrian Audio has designed the OC 18 as a simpler version of the OC 818. While the OC 818 boasts remote-switchable polar patterns and app control, the Austrian Audio OC18 Studio Set focuses on the essentials: ease of use and great sound quality. It features a fixed cardioid polar pattern - suitable for the majority of applications. Included is a two-stage pad switch offering 10 and 20dB attenuation, as well as a high-pass filter adjustable at 40, 80, or 160Hz, making it versatile for adjusting to individual voices, for example.
